History of the Worcestershire Branch
of the Richard III Society 1995 - 1999

1995 Instead of giving each other Christmas cards, we decided to have an annual collection for a Ricardian charity.

Trips to Leigh Church, Leigh Tithe Barn, Lower Brockhampton Court, Llanidloes, Abbey Cwm Hir, Bosworth, York for the banquet weekend in October, Worcester Commandery and Worcester Cathedral Library.

1996 The branch celebrated ten years in existence as a group then a branch with a Coronation Medieval Banquet at the Commandery on July 6th.

Two members had articles published in the "Ricardian."

Two members went to Bruges with their families to see the "Pageant of the Golden Tree".

Trips to Battlefield Church, Moreton Corbett, Tong, Acton Burnell, Langley Chapel, Oddingley, Huddington, Bosworth, Cotswold Wool Churches and Fotheringhay Carol Service.

1997 The Worcestershire Branch received an invitation to form part of the audience for the live broadcast of "It's Your Shout" from the Commandery on Sunday January 12th.

Meetings start to be held in village halls as members' houses become too small.

Trips to Dudley Castle and Priory, Berkeley Castle and Church, Beverston Church, Hailes Abbey, Sudeley Castle, Astley, Ombersley, Bosworth, Kempsey Church and Fotheringhay Carol Service.

1998 Article about the branch in the Malvern Gazette and Ledbury Reporter on February 6th.

The branch library started. The American Branch put a bit about our branch on their web site.

The branch held a Medieval Birthday Banquet on October 3rd which was attended by an American Ricardian. She brought a full set of Sharon Penman's novels as a gift to the branch library, and also gave a full set to her hostess.

Trips to Baddesley Clinton, Ludlow Castle, Burford Church, Newark, Tattershall Castle, Besford, Bredon Hill, Mortimers' Cross Mill, Wigmore Castle, Croft Castle and Fotheringhay Carol Service.

1999 An index to the first twenty-five issues of "Dickon Independent" published.

Some members met up with Linda Treybig and her tour party from America at Great Malvern Priory on June 30th.

Donation to Margaret of York memorial plaque fund.

Trips to Sutton Cheney, Bosworth, Dadlington, Kenilworth Castle, Strensham, Elmley Castle, Bosworth, Tewkesbury, Deerhurst, Burford, Minster Lovell, Swinbrook, York for the banquet weekend and Fotheringhay Carol Service.
