Play Reading - February 8

Article from page 19 of Dickon Independent issue 47

We should have been touring the costume department at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford but unfortunately our guide had to cancel owing to illness, so we went to the Tapestry Room at Beoley Church instead and read a play. It’s only the second time we’ve done this as a branch but it worked very well. The play, Time Aforetime by Jean Airey and Libby Haynes, was written in 1968 but set in the 1990's.

It’s a fantasy, in which Joan is transported back in time to the eve of the battle of Bosworth, and comes up with a cunning plan so that Richard wins the battle. Joan’s employers, the scientists who sent her back in time, finally manage to bring her home to America - and Richard comes too!

I borrowed it from the Barton Library of the Richard III Society.
