St James’ Church in Oddingley has launched an appeal to raise £100,000 for much-needed repairs to the roof, wooden flooring and pews. In its east window is the royal coat of arms for Richard, Duke of York, when he claimed the throne in October 1460.

To make a donation, call John Geary on 01905 772588 or Lynne Morton on 01905 775929. The Worcestershire Branch raised £50 for the church in 2003 from our collection instead of giving Christmas cards to each other.

Little Malvern Priory needs to raise about £30,000 towards restoring its tower, with the total budget expected to be about £280,000. It also needs to raise about £40,000 for conserving the glass in the east window, which contains the remains of the figures of Edward IV and his family. The Ricardian Churches Restoration Fund has given a generous donation of £500 to the priory, and our branch sent £47 raised at our Christmas dinner in 2002.

If you want to send a donation to help, your name will be entered in the records of Little Malvern Priory, to form part of an archive dating back to 1127.

Send a cheque made payable to PCC Little Malvern Priory to PCC Tower Fund, 134 Longridge Road, Malvern, Worcestershire, WR14 4JJ, UK.
