The Worcester Pilgrim - November 8

Dr Katherine Lack gave a wonderful illustrated talk about Robert Sutton, who made the pilgrimage from Worcester to Compostela in the early fifteenth century. He was a Worcester dyer who lived on what is now Copenhagen Street (just next door to where I work), whose journey soon took him through the ford near where I live, nicely illustrated on one of the slides. Unfortunately St Andrew’s Church spire is fenced off so it’s not easy to see the carvings he had made for the church.

Robert Sutton’s body was found buried in the cathedral and the discovery sparked Dr Lack’s interest and research to discover who was considered so important that he was buried where he was.
