St Leonard's Church Ribbesford

In the medieval glass in the church is a boar and royal coat of arms. As the church is near Bewdley, and we know Edward IV gave a charter to the town in 1472 at Richard’s request as a reward for sending men to help him win the battle of Tewkesbury, we’ve liked to think that the boar is Richard’s and the arms Edward’s. But after consulting Geoff Wheeler, he says it is St Anthony’s boar and you can just see the little gold bell round its neck and the pattern on the saint’s robe behind.

The birds on either side of the royal arms could be falcons but it’s pure guesswork as to who the arms denote.
