Christmas Social Tea At Upton Snodsbury - December 10

Sixteen members braved the cold to gather for our last meeting of the year. We had time to chat while sipping wine or juice, then it was time to wake up our brains for two quizzes. Fortunately we did them in teams and our team scored 23 out of 25 in the first quiz, read out by David Cox. (I was lucky to share a table with Val Sibley, Carol Southworth and Pat Hibbs.)

The second quiz involved filling in the gaps on a family tree of our royals, and we got all 5 gaps correct so were awarded a packet of Polos each.

Then it was time for the most important business of the day - the splendid array of food which everyone had brought along. As usual there was more than enough to go round. We allowed more time this year to eat. A welcome cup of tea rounded off the afternoon.

The raffle prizes were donated by the committee members and consisted of wine and chocolates. I was lucky enough to get first choice and had a bottle of mulled wine.

This year’s collection instead of sending Christmas cards to each other was for Middleham Church, which needs some urgent repair work.

By this time it was nice and cosy in the hall - then it was time to put all the tables and chairs away again and wish everyone a Happy Christmas before leaving for home.
